New workshops and panels!

It’s been awhile since I’ve done any sort of update, but I’ll be leading a new workshop and moderating a Q&A at DMG as part of the Comics X Games at TCAF!

Check ’em out!

May Speaker Social: Later Alligator!, May 11th, 5:00pm, at Toronto Media Arts Centre

Featuring the classic hand-drawn animation style of SmallBu Animation and the work of Pillowfight (the developers behind WE KNOW THE DEVIL and HEAVEN WILL BE MINE), Later Alligator is a playable cartoon about a doofus named Pat in a big, 2D animated city.

The team is at TCAF with Comics × Games and will join us at DMG for a info-packed Q&A about the business of indie game studios!

A social hour and mini-arcade will follow the Q&A.

Writing Dialogue For Games May 29th, 6:30pm, at Toronto Media Arts Centre

Interested in the function of dialogue in games? Want to craft more effective dialogue in your interactive projects? Curious about what it takes to prepare to engage voice actors?

In this workshop, you will learn the fundamentals of writing dialogue specifically for games. We will focus on different types of dialogue (ambient, interactive i.e. branching), the function of each, and examples of how to successfully craft purposeful and effective dialogue for your games. We will also delve into thinking about writing for voice actors (or not!), and how to craft usable documents for your team members (or for your own records).

You do not need to be a writer to attend! This workshop is open to anyone who is interested in how dialogue functions in a game and how to get the most out of including dialogue in your game.

Hope to see you there!
